Longevity of tree roses

The barn should work fine - I cover the canes to keep light off of them - that is all. Anything can work, I find it easier to keep my tree roses in containers all year. I typically haven’t cut the canes but I think the roses have turned out a little leggy so this year I did cut the canes back and took off all the leaves too. I have also found that waiting until after a good freeze before moving into the garage is helpful.

Hi DianeS
Thanks again for your advice. I might start keeping the roses in containers so as to more easily move them in and out of the barn. As I did not cut the canes back in the fall very much, do you suggest I do that in the spring when I move them out of the barn?
Thank you!
