I am in the metro Atlanta area (Zone 8) and want to grow climbing roses on a lattice fence. I am fine with a different variety of rose on each. One fence is in a very sunny area and the other gets at maximum of 6 hours of afternoon sun a day. I would love any suggestions on what you all would recommend planting. Thank you in advance!
How tall and wide would you like them to grow and what colors do you prefer? The rose that only receives afternoon sun will be more subject to black spot because it will not have the morning sun to dry off the leaves.
The fence is 9 ft x 5 ft. I am flexible on colors for improved disease resistance. If I had my fantasy I would stay away from pink but if those are the best I can learn to love them
Cherry Frost, Arborose Tangerine Skies, True Delight
Thank you so much for all of your help!
Further south in north Florida, I have had good results with Honeymoon, and Don Juan.
Climbing Pinky is growing really well and looks like it will have lots of blooms. The first Madame Alfred Carriere I had many years ago did really well. Current plant is just doing ok.
If you want a really vigorous rambler, try Thousand Beauties/Tausendschon. It will cover your trellis and give lots of pink blooms for a month or more in the spring.
