I’m wondering what this growth is at the base of my rose tree. I’ve shown the photo to people at couple different nurseries and they’ve said not to worry about it.

Welcome Jane, I was waiting for some others in this group to reply. I’m not sure if it is crown gall. Do you have a state extension office that you can mail samples of it? They should have a diagnostic clinic and can diagnose it for you. There is usually a fee for this service, however, knowing what it actually is will help you know if have a true problem.
