How to winterize my tree rose in zone 5

First time rose grower in upstate ny can you advise as to how to winterize ?

My tree roses are in large pots, and for winter, I have taken mine into my unheated garage. They actually start growing in early March in the garage. I am in Zone 5b. I do water them occasionally while they are in the garage, but not too much.

I can put my tree rose in a screened in back porch. I’ve seen videos with people that wrap the trunk in like insulation for pipes and then they wrap the top in burlap. Do you think that I need to do that?

Yes to the pipe insulation and the burlap. Anything to keep the winter winds away should be beneficial.
