Hi everyone, quick question. Is this Downy Mildew? I used to grow and exhibit and am just getting back into it as I’ve moved and space is limited. Downy is something I
have been lucky enough to avoid in the past so my experience is limited. At first I thought the markings on the tops of the leaves were from the wind blowing the leaves into the thorns, but now im seeing it on other leaves that dont seem to be near thorns. Pretty sure this is Downy, but its crossing the veins so im not sure. The rose is Ring of Fire that I happened opon at Home Depot this year. (Typically get all my roses from Steve @ Wisconsin Roses but was a little suprised to see a show rose at a big box store and broke down and got it.) Any help is greatly appreciated!!!
Welcome, Argus, you are correct about Downy mildew staying within the veins. The symptoms are not typical of Downy. Perhaps it is a bacterial leaf infection. Do you have access to a plant diagnosis clinic from your state’s extension service?
Thank you Rosejoy, that makes me feel better. I believe OSU does plant diagnostics. I’m going to do some checking. Thanks for the advice! It’s been very wet and cool here in Ohio this Spring, so my first thought was please, don’t be Downy!
