It is National Red Rose Day

The rose is our nation’s official flower, thanks to Congress and a proclamation signed by then-President Ronald Reagan in 1986 in a ceremony – where else? – in the White House Rose Garden.

Roses are the birth flower for June, which also coincides with this beloved flower blooming in gardens throughout America. June is also National Rose Month with the birth flower being the red rose.

Red roses were used in many early cultures as decorations in wedding ceremonies and wedding attire. It was through this practice that the red rose eventually became the symbol of love and romance. Today the giving of red roses has become the strongest message of love. Red roses also tend to be the most fragrant in the garden. Some varieties are cultivated specifically for perfume.

Red roses come in many hues, ranging from the eye-popping scarlet to a very deep burgundy.

Eventually June 12 became National Red Rose Day.

Red Rose Day is a time to enjoy and appreciate America’s favorite flower….the red rose. A red rose signifies love and romance. A June setting to Red Rose Day is very appropriate, as this is by far the most popular month for weddings, and they are in bloom in gardens across America this month.

To celebrate this June 12 holiday, share photo(s) of some of your red rose(s) on this thread as a salute to National Red Rose Day.
I am sharing a couple of mine.
