Miniature Roses Popularity

Curious if you grow miniatures and/or miniflora roses? Seems like they continue to fall in popularity. This is a photo of a new seedling of mine. It is from an open pollinated hip of High Wire Flyer and looks like it will be a mini. It is very fragrant!

I grow them, but as I see the situation the lack of availability is a major roadblock. Seems there a no longer any min/miniflora specialty nurseries.

Burlington Roses, Burling Leong, Ralph Moore’s colleague at Sequoia Nursery for decades, still offers a large selection of mini roses. She probably has the largest selection of them around these days. If you’re looking for one she doesn’t have, she can frequently find it for you from someone she knows who may have it. She’s the closest there is to a mini specialty nursery. K&M and Wisconsin Roses offer many mini floras for the exhibition crowd.

I have not purchased from Burlington - will have to give it a try. I do buy minis/minifloras from Steve at Wisconsin Roses. He has a new red - Mr Rogers - which has really nice form (new this year in my garden

@DianeS Burlington sells own root roses so they are smaller than the budded plants you receive from Steve or K&M. But, her prices reflect that. She’s great to work with and a really lovely person to know.

I grow some, but so many of the miniture rose nurseries have closed. The decline started when Tiny Petals and Sequoia closed. I think there is still one nursery in California. Can’t remember the name. I will add that I had the pleasure of working at Tiny Petals for several years and have such fond memories.

Thank you! I couldn’t remember Burlington nursery name! I have ordered from her, but it’s been years. I know the last time I ordered she had my namesake rose ‘‘Ms.Mary’. I gona call her because there are a couple minis I want!
