Hi,
First apologies forgot being around for many months. Last year I was ill and then spring came and I was rearranging my current rose garden. Now, I have a question about how to start a local rose society. Where can I find information about that process? I have looked at rose.org but can’t find anything about how to start a new local society. Anyone have information about that process?
The Shreveport-Bossier Rose Society folded many years ago but was then reorganized just a few years ago. Some of their members could probably shed some light on how to start a new rose society.
UPDATE: Well I have contacted the ARS twice via email. Nothing!! No information has been sent to me. So frustrating as I know there was a local rose society, the Pee Dee Rose Society of Florence but it went defunct probably two decades ago. I have lived here for over 20 years and NEVER heard of a rose society….. until my husband and I were visiting the local public library (where he worked until he retired about two years ago). There one of the librarians found a local article describing a meeting- place, time, and speaker, Howard Walters! Success….. or so I thought. I tried to ask the ARS to look for a charter. Nothing! So frustrating it is almost as if they don’t want people to start new societies. Grrr.
Still NO REPLY from the ARS! What is going at the national office? Is there anyone who can check the membership database? Anyone who can look through old files? Such frustration! How do they expect to grow if there is no one who can answer questions.
Thank you, Craig. ARS and you have been doing a great job and revamping ARS to succeed for the future. Our Society has also tried contacting/getting info from ARS directly only to hear nothing back. However, we know these are just ‘growing pains’ and will pass as things get restarted. Like the ‘new’ Forum/Member Dashboard.
