I enjoy looking through, reading and collecting the older American Rose Society magazines. I have all the issues from 1948 to the present but cannot find the ones from 1933 through 1947. I want original issues only, not the reprints, as I do collect them… Does anyone know where I can find them?
Getting the word out is a good start. Older members in a local rose society often have collections. eBay used to have things like that too.
Thanks for your response. I watch Ebay and just cannot seem to find them ever listed. As you said, I hope older members may have them or at least know someone who does.

I have been collecting rose related items for over 30 years and have a huge rose library. The magazines are difficult to find. I have them back to 1944, and nothing from 1933-1944. I’ll have to check and see if I have extras. I don’t even recall seeing any for sale at any price. I have a few of the Quarterlies from the early 1930s, but not a lot. I often have good luck with Terrace Horticulture Books in St Paul, MN. Steve
Thanks for responding. I too have collected for years and never see the early mags for sale. I did find all the Quarterlies in a bound volume a few years ago and have them all. I had the ARS magazines from about 1941 thru now but in my divorce about 15 years, the 1941 thru 1947 “disappeared” and the ex-wife had no idea what happened to them. I have found all the annuals including the hardback and paperback 1916 and at least 5 different versions of the 1917 annual including a paperback of it that I have never seen anyone else have. I hope someone posts some leads and maybe we both can complete our collections.
Steve
I have several 1916 and 17 annuals, some with and without numbers, but never saw a paperback version. What a find! On the RNRS Annuals I found the 1905-08 in a bound book, that people didn’t know those years existed. If you want to continue, email me at scvrose@aol.com. Steve
I knew the RNRS had those annuals but have never found them together like that. I have 1908, 1910 thru 1982. If you see the 1909, 1907 and before let me know. Collecting these can get habit forming and frustrating since they are incredibly hard to find. Do you have a list of the books you have collected? I would love to know what you have. My 1908 is not a hardback. Maybe that’s why they were bound into a volume. Never seen the 1909 one.
