Question about 2025 Selecting Roses Handbook

What do “blooms 9” and “blooms 10” mean in the descriptions of the Member Choice winners on page 2? Thanks.

That is a very good question. I think there are two possibilities.

  1. It’s a typo, i.e. errata
  2. It’s some kind of rating

Maybe Diane can shed some light.

Can you give us an example, how it was used?

It is printed as follows:
Hybrid tea, pink blend, 2020; Delbard, G; blooms 9, Full (26-40) petals, regular repeat;…
Hybrid Tea, mauve & mauve blend; blooms 10, very full (41+), petals borne mostly solitary, regular repeat;…

Hi, I have not seen something printed like that. I usually check
Roses, Peonies, Clematis and everything rose, peony and clematis related. if I have a question. If “10” is the highest number, then it looks like a great choice!

Hi Everyone - I checked with Beth Smiley, co-editor of the Handbook and she indicated that those numbers (9 & 10) were simply a mistake. Diane
