Hi. I am Leon Ginenthal, owner of Der Rosenmeister Nursery in Ithaca, NY. I specialize in cold hardy, disease resistant Climbers and Ramblers. I do not use any sprays in my gardens and nursery. There is a video tour of my property on YouTube. Look for “A Romance With Roses.” Let me know if you have any questions about them. Thanks.
Welcome Leon to the rose forum. I look forward to your contributions.
Welcome, Leon. My name is Cyndy Scalf and I have a small rose nursery here in Nashville, NC. I only sell old garden roses on their own roots, organically grown. I am starting to propagate some of the old ramblers and climbers, and I must say I am falling for them. If you have any suggestions of ramblers that I might like to try, please send them to me. Currently I grow Veilchenblau, Mermaid, Goldfinch, Hattie Burton, Paul’s Lemon Pillar, Giselaine de Feligonde, and Crepuscule. I hope to visit your nursery some day, as I have heard many wonderful compliments about it.
Hello Leon,
Just to say I found your presentation on RoseChat podcast last week to be extraordinarily informative. I have been growing a few hundred roses for about 40 years, and seem to be pretty good at meddling and making the same mistakes over and over again!
I would love to be able to take your advice, and “Test, test, test” my soil as you advised, but that become very expensive in Canada, with single tests costing $90 or more.
I don’t suppose you offer shipping to Canada, do you? I do buy roses regularly from Rogue Valley roses in Oregon, somehow they seem to arrive with zero problems, crossing the border quickly and uneventfully…
Thanks again for your presentation.
