Some of you may have gotten their email. As of “right this minute” they are no longer shipping.
I am so sad to hear this. First Palatine quitting roses altogether after this season, now Regan with no more shipping.
Those of you who live in their area will still be able to order for pick up only.
Who’s left to fill in the gaps? Palatine brought in a lot of hard to find roses. Regan has a huge inventory to choose from, some old and some new.
Some are ordering from Grace Rose Farm but I’ve heard some nightmare stories about them so I will not, until some time goes by that shows they’ve got it together.
I saw the same e-mail. Regarding “big box” bare root purveyors, we’re down to Edmunds’ (which is really Jung Seed now), Jackson & Perkins, and David Austin Roses. Not having success with Austins, I am down to two choices – neither of which gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling. I have had good success with own root providers Heirloom and Rose Unlimited, but I just don’t like waiting 2 or 3 years to have a full-size plant
As you said, this news combined with Palatine’s is most disheartening. I guess it may be difficult to make good money in the bare root rose mail order business these days.
I cried when I heard that Palatine was closing! I’m trying to get this beautiful rose called Gruaurd LaRose And they seem to be only place that carries it besides Europe and I have no idea how to get a rose from Europe
Isn’t Palatine closing AFTER this season (2024 orders for 2025 shipping/planting)? In other words, this will be their last season. Regan, on the other hand, has closed for shipping roses immediately. So, I think you still have a chance to get your rose from Palatine.
Yes it is closing after the 25 season and you are more optimistic than I am. I tried to get that rose morning and night last year and they opened up silently during the work day. By then it was sold out. That rose is so beautiful! Fingers crossed.
