Rose Photography and contests

Other than looking at past winners, how can I figure out what types of photos do well in the ARS contests, including the print and electronic competitions?

  1. Make sure you have read the Guidelines to Rose Photography and the Guidelines for Judging Roses. These two documents are the base for Judging, roughly 50:50 photo technique and horticulture.
  2. Simplify - make sure the subject is clear, reduce clutter and distractions
  3. Focus, focus, focus - subject must be in sharp focus. Unless a creative entry.
  4. Practice, practice practice.

Also, put the submission dates on your calendar. I have missed entering before I started doing that.
