Please help me diagnose whether my rose gets RRD or not. It’s a huge bush, abd everything is fine except this new cane. This rose has never grown this way before. This is one of my most favorite roses in my garden. Thank you my experts!
It looks very suspicious. Watch the new growth, if it is aberrant you will need to dig it up, cut it up and then put in a plastic black bag and let it bake in the sun for a week or two, then throw in the garbage.
Have you used ANY kind of pesticide, herbicide near your roses to kill weeds? Those chemicals can reach the roots the rose .
How near to the rose are you talking about? Typically you should not use any herbicide near a rose. The only ones I have used near roses (within one foot) is SedgeHammer to kill nutsedge, and Grass Getter (clethodin) which I use when I have wild Bermuda grass invading a rose bed. Otherwise I hand pull the weeds.
Did you cut off the diseased cane? How has the new growth look?
