What are these prickly things?

Can anyone tell me what these are? They’re on my Pink Grootendorst roses. Thanks

Per a Google Reverse Image Search, it’s due to Diplolepis bicolor, spiny bud gall wasp, or Diplolepis polita, spiny leaf gall wasp. The bud gall wasp induces galls on buds. The leaf gall wasp induces them on leaves. Both induce them as a protective mechanism and a source of food for their larvae. They lay their eggs in them for reproduction.
