Welcome Linda, please let us know how you would like to use the roses in your garden. Do you want them for cutting, to make arrangements? Do you want to make a bed with a combination of roses, perennials and annuals. How much maintenance are you anticipating?

Roses need full sun, so you have that covered. They do best and have fewer disease problems when they receive morning sun to dry off moisture on their leaves.

Be sure to get the soil tested where you want to plant the roses. They do best when the pH is 6.2 to 6.8. You also want about 5% organic matter in the soil.

I would l9ve to have a cutting garden with other flowers as well but I would like the garden to be beautiful on its own as well. I have a spot in my yard that gets full sun.

Since you would like roses for cutting, you should consider disease resistant hybrid tea and grandiflora roses because they grow long stems, good for cutting. For example, Savannah, Beverly, Brindabella Pink Princess, Sweet Mademoiselle, Sweet Spirit, Wedding Bells, Ruby Red.

Maybe, Belinda Blush, True Bloom brand name - rose True Passion.

These are roses that have been tested and have good resistance to black spot.

Hopefully, you will see some more suggestions for roses that don’t need fungicidal sprays to prevent blackspot.
