White powder and black spots on rose stem

Hello!

My knock out rose is coming out of dormancy and I’m noticing circular black spots along with white powdery patches on the stem of the plant. I have two David Austin baby roses that appear healthy. All three are new plants that were planted into the ground last summer.

Please help me find the issue so I can save my plants from dying. Thank you!

Welcome, please take some close up pictures. It could be several issues and may not be a problem.

The first photo looks like the spots are from some type of scratching damage, not any disease. On the second photo, one of dark spots looks like the beginning of canker, but it is hard to tell, maybe dormant black spot. As a precaution, if it is available where you live, apply some Mancozeb, 3 times, 5 days apart. This will help prevent black spot. Can you contact a local ARS consulting Rosarian and have them visit your garden and look at the roses?
