I was wondering if anyone here knew the main supplier for vendors like Ergongzi, Roses Plant, Rose Explosion, Blush Bloomery, OliviaRoseMart, BloomeriabySera, etc.
We were discussing this topic on reddit and found out that they all have the same exact tag with the same exact ink jet sticker in Chinese as the label. I asked Roses Plant about it and they did verify that they were getting their supply from China and growing some of it afterwards stateside.
I looked up some vendors on Taobao and the like and found some vendors at $.50-$5 per rose some with the $.50 ones having a high minimum order quantity. A user on reddit had mentioned that they did get some roses from Taobao at $3 a pop with no problem to singapore.
Stage wise we made a discord group and one of us is contacting APHIS to see if it is a restriction or an outright ban on roses from China. The person contacting them has previous experience from a group buy where there was an APHIS restriction and they were able to get the plants into the US after a few steps. We know that a declaration to CBP as well as phytosanitary certificates and an APHIS permit & their permission is required before we use an agent like Cainaio to forward the shipment.
Have any of you used any Chinese vendors that have a menu of over 800 roses like Roses Plant?
You should not buy any plant material from China. Even so you would need to apply and be approved for a USA import permit. Invasive insects and diseases could be introduced either deliberately or inadvertently from these plants.
I will tell you all that I did buy a rose from Roseplant. I wrote a post here about the unusual way it came. It looked like a little tree with a root ball wrapped in cellophane. The rose I purchased was GRUAUD Larose. I’ve been trying to get this rose for over three years . when I saw it there, . I purchased it immediately without thinking. I did see the little Chinese little label on it and wondered. it is planted now and doing very well, but I’m really wanting to see exactly if this is the rose. I purchased or not. It looks very healthy. I don’t see any problems with it so we’ll just see. I will keep you posted.
I know someone that has purchased from Rose Plant and their roses were the variety advertised so you should be fine unless it’s a mislabel. I really want their supplier since sub $5/rose would be amazing. Keep us posted!
