I checked them out but it doesn’t look like they ship.. how are you getting their roses?

HI Lady Bug,

Not sure what you are asking….. How I have bought my minis or How have I gotten roses from Roses Unlimited. Many of my minis I bought decades ago via mail order mini nurseries which were plentiful about a decade ago. As for buying Roses from Roses Unlimited, I am lucky enough to live about 2.5 hours from Laurens, SC where they are located. I have driven to pick up roses and other things as well. I did have roses shipped from RU this year. Many rose nurseries will discontinue shipping in the hot summer months. Contact them via email. They may be able to ship once cooler weather comes. They are open right now just not shipping because of the hot weather. HTH. Carol

Hi, Diane and others. I’m John and I enjoy the doings of ARS Tremendously. My rose experience goes back to turning 6 bushels of overwinter horse manure into my father’s rose garden when I was 12 years old. What a way to earn an allowance. That was 70 years ago and I’ve been growing roses ever since. I find that in my elderly years 40-45 plants is all I can handle. But it’s plenty for bouquets. I just finished a book–Roses for the Ordinary Gardener–which will come out from Sunbury Press in early 2026. If anyone would like to read an advance copy and provide a cover blurb, let me know.

Welcome Timm. What region of the U.S. do you live in?

Hi, Rosejoy. Nice appellation. I’m from western Michigan which presents its own special challenges for growing roses. Such extremes! We were in the 90’s without rain most of the summer; in the winter blizzards and below zero howl in from Lake Michigan. But with some care roses do very nicely here.
